Building With the Future in Mind Since 1955

The kitchen was small and tired and these clients love to cook and entertain. There was no bathroom upstairs; instead the upstairs had two small bedrooms. More laundry space was needed – a tight hallway was crammed with these facilities.  Yes, these folks were spaced out!

Although we tried to morph the existing space into an acceptable solution, creating more space clearly became an essential part of the solution. Try as we might, their goals couldn’t be achieved without adding more room.

The 2 story addition we added to their home contained their relocated kitchen, family room, dining room and mudroom on the main level, as well as a spacious master bedroom and bathroom upstairs.

Additional space for web

Here’s the home prior to the addition we designed and built.

They also picked up a view of Mt. Baker that didn’t exist before!

Alterations to their existing space included:

Converting their tiny eating nook into their main entry

Reversing the direction of the interior stairway to their upstairs

Replacement of most of their windows

A new furnace and some other weatherization

Energy efficiency upgrades.
