“Welcome to our Showroom! Come on in…”
Well… at least we can welcome you into our showroom online… right here! Please know, however, that we’re not a retail showroom, simply selling products. Instead, our showroom serves two purposes:
It helps our design clients select, or specify, the products they want identified in their drawings and specifications, and
It helps our production clients purchase these items right here, further solidifying the seamlessness of our design/build approach
Our office, showroom and readerboard are pictured right here. We’re located at 3310 Northwest Avenue, just north of Birchwood Avenue, adjacent to the fire station. Hard to miss us given the popularity of our readerboard along the street. It’s one of the most famous landmarks in Bellingham, we’re told.
The slideshow below will give you a glimpse into our showroom and here’s a list of the products we display there:
FLOOR COVERINGS: wood, cork, and bamboo, tile & natural stone, natural linoleum (e.g., Marmoleum), recycled rubber, stained & polished concrete, and vinyl.
COUNTERTOPS & BACKSPLASHES: Quartz (e.g. Cambria and Zodiaq), granite, marble, travertine, soapstone, laminate, solid surface (e.g. Corian, and Ceasarstone), Paper Stone, butcher block (e.g. maple and bamboo), concrete countertops, recycled glass (e.g. Environite, Ice Stone, and Vitrazo), live-edge and reclaimed wood, and, of course, tile (ceramic, porcelain, and glass, including recycled glass). Go HERE to read our ‘On The Level’ newsletter article about stone countertops.
CABINETS: Two beautiful cabinet lines, door knobs and drawer pulls, and interior accessories (blind corner options, tray dividers, rollout shelves, and pullout pantries). We offer custom cabinetry and woodworking by All About Wood (AAW) in Custer, as well as custom cabinets and furniture by Smith & Vallee Woodworks in Edison.
Smith & Vallee has offered locally made, sustainably-harvested cabinets, since 1997. Their cabinet boxes are made with sustainably-harvested maple plywood. Solid woods used in their projects are typically cherry, maple and fir. The fir and maple are locally harvested from a forest logged by the same family for over forty years. The logs are milled and kiln dried at their facilities in Deming. The cherry is purchased from a wood dealer in Pt. Townsend, WA and comes from a sustainably-harvested forest in Pennsylvania.
All About Wood has been crafting quality custom woodwork for over 20 years. AAW offers a wide range of high quality materials and craftsmanship – from all types of solid woods to an extensive collection of veneers. Add paint, antique finishes, glazes, solid color lacquers and beautiful stains combined with an array of cabinet styles, to suite every design requirement. With AAW there is freedom to pick and choose among a variety of options for your cabinet designs. They also offer Forestry Stewardship Council (FSC) certified options.
TUB & SHOWER SURROUNDS: Porcelain, ceramic, and natural stone tile, solid surface (e.g., Swanstone, Silestone, Corian), colored glass by Environite, and much more.

Below is a partial list of the products we can help specify for your project. In other words, we can help you select these products to incorporate into your project. Specifying products is an essential service our designers provide, using in-house samples and other sources of information… websites, catalogs, brochures and other showrooms. SVC Interiors, for example, is a larger, local showroom that caters to designers and we often reach out to them for products that we don’t display in our showroom.

Our specifying and design work often extends beyond products, into the realm of systems. These can include HVAC systems (e.g. heating, cooling, fresh air, heat recovery), plumbing systems (e.g. septic systems, water filtration, water storage, water catchment, wells, solar hot water), electrical systems (e.g. photo-voltaics), stormwater systems, etc.
During our own numerous remodels here at Northwest Avenue we’ve incorporated specific products and techniques –- both inside and out — so that you can see, first hand, the environmentally sensitive construction techniques and products we prefer. HERE is a partial list of these products and techniques.
“Working with an Adaptations’ designer and staff, in conjunction with A-1 Builders, was the best decision we made regarding our various home remodel projects. For a micro-manager with strong design ideas, like me, hiring a designer was the perfect balance. She always allows me to have the ultimate decision on design and color details, while all the time guiding me with an appropriate selection of possible products, materials and space design. Adaptations worked with A-1 Builders to assure a coordinated project without unnecessary delays. Any concerns were communicated between Adaptations and A-1 Builders to our final satisfaction. Best of all, we continue to enjoy the new, efficient spaces in our home each and every day.” – Bunny and David Schneider
